
During the SONA, the President announced his grand legacy project, the Pax Silica. It’s obvious that this US-led initiative was designed to neutralize China’s advantage in the world’s supply chain network.
With Filipinos bound to a 99-year contract (signing is in November), it’s important the Senate, Congress and agencies in charge of environment, mining, energy, technology, labor and others, dissect and vet the project. But anticipating a slow-moving bureaucracy, the private sector, media, NGOs, youth, farmers and advocacy groups get engaged in the discussion to insure the Filipino is protected.
Especially since Donald Trump routinely puts profits over humanitarian values. /mdm
