
We’ve seen the parade of political families and has-been and never-been celebrities running for public office. Except for media and the left, nobody seems to mind, unfortunately. It’s so institutionalized that the absence of relatives and celebrities would be likened to a disruption of cosmic laws, like the sun moving sideways.
And now you have social media influencers running for office.
It’s a smart play, actually. Fame and money are ephemeral acquisitions. Why wait for the fame to fade and the money to dry up before entering politics? Might as well parlay online clout into votes while still on top. /Joey Salgado
