Vice President Sara Duterte’s image as president-in-waiting is being challenged by the rise of Senator Raffy Tulfo, who is locked in a statistical tie with the Vice President in a presidential survey recently made public by Pulse Asia.
Tulfo is a tough-talking populist in the mold of former president Rodrigo Duterte. He is perceived as a brawler, but limits his tough talk to government officials and those in power. For ordinary folks seeking his help, the former broadcaster displays a compassionate and caring demeanor.
He displays a keener understanding of messaging and optics than the Vice President and her team. /Joey Salgado
