
When there is someone you'd rather not hear from on Facebook, you have several options. You can hide his comments, but that won't stop him from posting another. You can snooze him, but he will be back. You can unfriend him, yet even the posts of the unfriended can still drift down your feed. You can hide or delete the comment.
But blocking gives you a peculiar power.
Blocking removes him from your world while leaving his words behind. The ugliness remains, preserved where everyone can see it.
