2. Cut into small pieces. Serve melon in bite-sized chunks to prevent choking, especially for smaller breeds.

3. Moderation is key. Treats should not exceed 10 per cent of your dog’s daily caloric intake. Too much melon can cause diarrhea or gastrointestinal upset.

4. Introduce Slowly. If your dog has never eaten melon before, start with a very small amount to see how their digestive system reacts.

5. Avoid Flavored Melon Products. Melon-flavored candies, juices, or desserts often contain added sugar or artificial sweeteners like xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
