According to a recent OCTA survey commissioned by the military, 77 per cent of Filipinos are willing to fight for their country should there be conflict with a “foreign enemy.”
No need to state the obvious. China was on people’s minds when the survey was taken.
Eighty four per cent of those willing to fight are from Mindanao. We assume this excludes former president Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte sees China as friend and savior. At one point during his presidency, he was willing to let the Philippines become a province of China. We don’t recall his former spokesman saying, “joke lang.” /Joey Salgado
